Why ‘Ted’?
A long time ago two teenagers were nick-named ‘Ted’. The first was short for “$hithead”; the second “Rooted”. Since both lads were always out in the Australian bush doing “stuff”, in polite company the names were explained as short for “Wallaby Ted” and “Kangaroo Ted”.
Although inseparable as youths, the two Teds only occasionally found time or opportunity to catch up with each other as they grew older. This is the story of a canoe trip down some flooded rivers in New South Wales, Australia.
After 50 years, Ted rang Ted to say he wanted to canoe down Australia’s Darling River, and he didn’t know anyone else stupid enough to do it.
